As many constituents will be aware, Cambridgeshire County Council is proposing redesigning Children’s Centre Services across the whole of Cambridgeshire. The proposal was subject to a full public consultation and received over 2,000 completed responses between July 17th and September 22nd 2017.
Throughout the consultation period, I received representation from service users, service providers and the wider community and held a meeting with the Interim Service Director’s team to better understand the council’s proposal. Following detailed scrutiny of the proposal and supporting data I too submitted to the consultation. A copy of my comments can be found by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page.
Cambridgeshire County Council have welcomed the level of detailed feedback and engagement acknowledging that whilst there has been some support for the proposals there has also been concern raised by others. In light of this the Council have made the decision to take the consultation response and recommendations to Full Council on October 17th. This will replace the planned presentation to Children and Young People Committee on October 10th. The County Council believe this will give a wider group of councillors an opportunity to hear a wide range of views and take part in a debate before voting on the recommendations. Members of the public wishing to speak about this proposal at Full Council need to register their request by emailing: firstname.lastname@example.org by midday on Tuesday 10th October.
